What!?!?!?! A helmet SAVED HIS NOGGIN?!?!?!?! Impossible!!! EVERYone (who doesn't wear helmets) KNOWS that helmets don't make any difference at ALL in an accident!!!!! 
Tell that to my late friend Joanie Orban who was decapitated by her helmet. Those things save some and kill others in about even numbers.
And ya know, you "might be right" AFTERALL, GB!!! Seems I heard somewhere that ALL the sanctioning bodies in motorcycle racing are now considering leaving it all up to the riders if they want to wear a helmet or NOT!!!
Yep! Seems there's some "statistics" out there that severe blunt force head trauma is, as you said, "a 50/50 proposition AT BEST" with OR WITHOUT a helmet on, alright!!!
