Went and saw Ironman last night. It was a good action movie. Too bad Tony Stark was not into motorcycle design, we would be flying over the dragon's tail (literally) Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts was nothing but sharp. Do you like super hero movies and which one is your favorite and why?

Yeah, I'm a superhero junky too. Favorite one is hard to say. Think I'd have to go with Batman Begins. I like that it went into how he came about all the cool toys. Plus Batman just kicks butt. Still, there were some really great movies that have come out in the last several years.

I wouldnt say that I am a super hero junkie, but I like the comic book hero movies that have come out over the last few years. It is kind of tough to say which ones I have liked the best over the last few years. I havent seen Iron Man yet (hopefully this weekend). I liked Batman Begins. The Spiderman series was good. Ghost Rider was great.
BTW... do kids still read comics books? You know all these movies were made for us that read them as kids in the 70's.

I'd say that I'm one. I've collected comics for years and even was a retailer for five years. Which one is my favourite? That is hard to say but the crop of ones from the last few years have been well done for the most part.

I am into super hero movies as well, I think I liked The Hulk best so far either that or X men. Those seemed to follow the lore best. I didn't like that they used a different actor for Batman every time. I didn't like that Green Goblin wore a suit instead of turning into the Green Goblin like in the comics I used to read. Ironman was always my favorite and I am looking forward to seeing how well they did with it. It will be a huge disappointment if it's not good since he is my favorite.

Saw Iron Man last night (and stayed for the end) and saw a great trailer for The Incredible Hulk! Man it looks awesome. Much better than the Hulk of a few years ago.

Not just because the movie just came out but ironman was my favorite. It was a really good movie. I can remember running down to the corner store and buying ironman comics. Jack

I like The Punisher, not that the movies are that great, but the idea of vigilante justice is fine with me. I also like the Ghost Rider, he's just

Just got back from seeing Ironman. Fantastic film! It's amazing how well these superhero movies are turning out. I never really was a fan of Ironman, Ghost Rider or even Hulk, but the movies have really turned me. Especially Ironman. Can't wait to see Thor and Avengers in upcoming years.

They did one a while ago that was pretty lame in my opinion, think it was made for TV though.

For me Spider-Man has always been my favorite. Spider-Man 2 is my favorite so far. I posted this before in the Iron Man thread:
"Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010.
Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer - a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011."
So it seems that you guys will be getting your CA film... the question is, will he be fighting Nazis like in the source material or will they "modernize" it and have him fight Al-Queda?

I definately liked the first Batman movie the best. Tow questions for you all. 1. Did any of you ever read "Magnus, Robot Fighter"? I think it was from DC. Now THAT would be a cool movie. Question 2. Does Marvel even print comic books anymore? My grocery store does'nt carry them. I remember a few years back they were in bankruptcy proceedings, and this before the movies started hitting it big.

Yep I remember Magnus although I never read it originally. The book was never published by DC but instead by Goldkey which was a major publisher at the time with many popular titles based off of tv and disney properties. Later the character was published by Valiant, which bought all of the Goldkey hero characters, in the early '90's and then by Acclaim, the videogame company.

Marvel has never stopped. The reason you don't see too many comics in the places that sold them when we were kids is that they've gone to a direct market where comic stores are the major selling point for the market. The last few years both Marvel and DC have realized that the best way to get new readers though is to expose them the way we were so they've started to reenter the markets of old.
I won't even try to explain the mess of the bankruptcy. Let's just say Marvel is healthy again.

Thanks for the info, Wojo. You're right, now I remember the Gold Key publisher. It seems to me that they were largely sold in Hospital gift shops and "nicer" venues, as the Gold Key comics were a little more sedate and sanitized than the Marvel and DC stuff. My first Magnus comic came to me when I was a kid in the hospital, and someone bought me a copy from the gift shop.

YES! I really liked that comic and it could be a cool movie.
My faves were always Fantastic Four, Spiderman and Batman, which have been done pretty well for the most part, but I read almost everything that Marvel and DC put out between '65 and '75 and tapered off after that but still like a good "graphic novel" now and then. Also, would love to see a Green Lantern movie, they could do a great job of it now. Iron Man was VERY good. someone at work showed me this still from the movie...
See anything interesting on the table in the background?
It seems Hollywood has figured out that if you hire good actors, directors, etc. that Superhero movies can be really good AND conversely bring in the big bucks. I mean anyone remember the Dolph Lundgren Punisher movie? OMG, how bad was that?! But I really liked the latest with Thomas Jane. And they got Edward Norton to play Bruce Banner in "The Incredible Hulk". That kind of casting really pays off. The first Batman was great because of Tim Burton, but Michael Keaton... WTF?! Christian Bale is a MUCH better Batman. Would still like to see him a little more psychotic, but looks like they might go there with "The Dark Knight". Speaking of Superhero movies, my all time favorite comic book, "Watchmen" is being made into a movie.
If it's not rated R then it won't be worth going to, but there's always hope.
Ciao!

Oh come on Mark, Michael Keaton was a fantastic Batman! He just really sucked as Bruce Wayne. Of the three actors from that Batman series, he was clearly the best. Now I will agree that Bale pulled it all off completely. Excellent all the way around and I cannot wait for Dark Knight to be released.
As far as the Green Lantern, I have seen reports of a live action Justice League film. That will be the best bet. All I know for sure is that Wonder Woman has already been cast, but can't remember who it was...a newer actress.

Filming was supposed to start on the Justice League movie back in January but because of the writers strike it might have been delayed. Rumour has it that from that film they will try and get three other films off the ground, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and The Flash. Flash being one of my favorites with GL being up there as well I hope this works and that they do get them out there.

Um, nope, not really.
I would ready super hero comics when my younger brothers or friends would buy them. The one comic book I bought consistantly was Weird War Tales. I did also have a subscription to CarToons.
