Well it looks like we are going to do the rally again in Eureka Springs, its been a few years since we were there. The dates will be October 8th,9th, 10th and leave on the 11th. Rally headquarters will be the Riders Rest motel just east of Eureka springs. Call Anne for a reservation at (479)253-9815 but hurry there are only 6 rooms left for those dates. I reserved all 6 under my name. I was thinking doing the Mount Magazine run on Friday and the maybe Saturday go north up to table rock lake.
I'm in
What the HECK?!! I thought the Riders Rest was closed? And isn't Anne the name of the English lady who we dealt with the first year, who moved?
I don't know if'n I can go or not. Crazy busy with work. And it'd be hard to justify after my Canadian Adventure. Still, it has always been one of my favorites. And Eureka springs IS closer than last years ride. Hmmmmm....
This map is a mashup of several shorter rides I have done lately. It covers quite a bit of road that we haven't ridden before (that I remember anyway). Three hours or so to Oark, then lunch at the Oark General Store (oldest continually operating store in AR). They have the best burgers in this part of the world and also usually have a plate lunch as well as other menu items. Yes, it is very old and very country but makes the favorites list of many cycle groups. Look it up online if you want. Anyway, after lunch could go on to Clarksville and take 123, 7, etc back to Eureka or could go on down 23 to Ozark and to Mount Magazine from there. Just depends on how long of a day we want to make of it. Just throwing this out as an option. There is an emergency repair contract being let for the slide on 23 just north of the jct with 215. Completion date is 10/30/15 so might be some waiting time at the repair site, assuming they get it in passable condition before then.
Map morning ride
Looks good Troy! Would like to hit Granny's Kitchen in Huntsville one morning.
We could modify the route to hit Granny's for breakfast then take the long way to Oark.
I may be able to book up with y'all on Saturday, it need to head on to Memfrica on Sunday.
Wish I could join you guys this Oct. Can't get away from work. It was frustrating not being able to attend last year's Hot Springs rally due to electrical problems (cdi
). It was appreciated that Chad stopped by the store when he came into town.
I'm thinking about selling the America, it isn't ridden much and private school for the girls ain't cheap. Take lots of pictures so I can live vicariously through you guys.
I sooo want to make this , this year.
I'll be there, of course. I like Rider's Rest and I'm looking forward to brews and a fire.
I'll be there. Got a new R3T yesterday! Time for a road trip!

What the hell Charlie. Did you get a Red and black one or all black? Congratulations, again!
I thought you were getting a Roadster?
Holy Horses, Charlie. Another one, huh? Congrats.
Just called Anne and got a room.

Just make your reservation, don't even think about it Dan. Just like Nike says. Just do it!
Right? It's not even a question anymore, I hear the dates, I commit
like GA?
Dave is more committed to the ARK rally than his wife, Yota. GA is just another rally on the side.

Yota's not my wife!
reservation made with Queen Ann !
Way to go big guy.

Okay Troy, you are here by knighted ride leader for day #1, may God have mercy on your soul.
I accept that tiara... as long as "it's all about the journey not the destination." holds true.
Am at least familiar with this area as opposed to Mo.
How much time/distance is a good days ride guys?
250 miles or so should keep us busy, especially if we throw a couple food and gas stops in there
Ok. What is a run for a tank of fuel? I can go 200 miles and my America wouldn't do that. I do carry a half gallon container if necessary.
Also what grade fuel does everyone use?
Ponca has one gas pump with two hoses and only has 87 octane. Oark is the same, only you pump the fuel and multiply the price by two to get the real cost (old dial type pump).
I have filled up at Huntsville with 91 and run to Ponca, refilled with 87 (half a tank) so the fuel from that point was probably 89 or 90. There are no other dependable fuel stops along the route until we go out to Ozark or Clarksville.
My comfortable range is about 120, although it is better on back roads than highways
I can go around 180-200 miles on my bird. I can run on any octane but I prefer 89 and above.
Is there anyone who cannot burn 87 octane? Fuel stops are rare along the route and even more rare if you can't use 87. Can carry a bottle of Octane boost if needed to allow burning a bit of the 87. Just buy the minimum to get back to civilization.
Personal Triumph (Joe) may be coming with us. He is bringing his BMW GS 1200, which I believe requires Premium.
He probably will have plenty of fuel for the run before lunch (95 miles from last fuel stop) and the next 25 miles to Clarksville. So if you don't take on some fuel at Oark it would be 120 miles from the last fuel stop to the next.
But, if they don't get the landslide repaired on 23 my whole route is blown up.
Found out today that I am able to attend! Made reservations for the 9th and 10th. Bringing the wife along this year. Her name is Jenny, same as my speedy. Will be heading up toward Eureka Springs about lunch time Friday, maybe we can catch up to the group in Oark.
Kent
I'll pm you my cell phone number to help in tracking us down.
I think that's it for the rooms. Charlie and Yota are SOL.
Thanks Troy, I'll give you a call that Friday so we can catch the group.
Paul, let me know if Charlie and Yota need a room. They can have our reservation, and the wife and I will get a room near by.
Don't worry about it Kent. I mentioned at the first, there were only 6 rooms available. You never know the people that have the other two could cancel.

that's true, there may be a chance of rain and it could scare some people away
Well two people got beds thanks to me.

Haven't checked the forum in a while. My Vic is supposed to run on higher octane than 87. Not recommended for me but I can go about 180 before I'm freaking out. However, if it's only once and mixed in with some higher octane already in the tank, it should be fine. Once won't hurt, right?
It's getting close, boys. The weather this morning was 45 degrees and the first thing that popped in my mind when I stepped outside was, "This is Ark rally weather!"
Can't wait anymore...
Chris get some of this stuff and put in your pack. It would be worth the $5.99. I may get some myself even though my bike runs on 87 octane. It also takes out any water that is sometimes found in cheap gas.
http://www.motosport.com/product?psrefer...%7BMatchType%7DYes this weekend had been nice in the low to mid 70's. can't wait to see the "gang".
I have switched up the route a bit. Supposedly the Deer Country Store in downtown Deer, AR has higher grades of gasoline. And if it comes down to it we can go past Hwy 23 a bit and find gasoline about six miles further up the road. Oark Country store has 87 octane pure gasoline so that should help. I double checked my spare gas can and have a 1 gallon can of 91 octane pure gasoline that I carry so we should all be able to make it.
Gasoline issue is one reason that this route isn't run that often since it is near a 100 mile run without many amenities. Ie, pure country crooked roads.

Haha. Me too. That's my kinda ride.
Well as my GPS is always saying "recalculating". I rode down to HWY 23 and the slide area today and it will not be passable in time for the rally. Have recalculated the route. We will just do some of it backward from the original route.
16 days.
seriously? it still seems kind of far off. I need a ride!
8 days. How's that Dave? A Little closer.
yeah, now I'm starting to get a rally boner
3 day work week and the weather looks great!!
Got my Triumph saddlebags put on Saturday and fresh oil a couple of weeks ago. Ready to roll.
Stephen backed out to go to a Def Leppard/Foreigner concert Friday night. Kids today, I must have raised him wrong.
cruisin the lovely Nubian Princess Friday afternoon !
See most of you tomorrow afternoon!Ride safe fellas..
The sausage fest has begun in Brokeback Springs!
Good rally guys and gals. We made it home around 1:00pm. Thanks Troy for planning all the rides. Great job!
I made it home. Great time. See y'all at the next one.
I got home just before 4:00, clocked around 1150 miles this weekend. As usual, it was great to see you all again! Pics will be posted up as I get around to uploading them
Jennifer and I made it home in good shape. Jennifer wanted me to thank everyone for letting her tag along. She say y'all are a cool bunch of guys and that the riding was awesome.
We made it home safe and well! Thanks again Troy for planning the ride and leading the pack.Good to see everyone as well, great rally indeed!

Jennifer is a sweet lady, especially to put up with all our BS. She fit right in. It made my Saturday night when she gave me a Fuzzy navel wine cooler at the firepit.

A great time for my first rally with the boys from BonnevilleAmerica. Thanks everyone for a fantastic weekend!

Good time , except for my breakfast, but good time !
I looked at the mileage we did for the actual routes on both days.
Sorry for Saturday being a bit of a long day but it was a fun ride.
145 on a rainy Friday
310 on Saturday
That was the shortest 310 mile ride ever, Troy. Went by like ::that::
Beautiful state, beautiful roads, great company. An A+ day.
What a letdown. From eating out every day with friends who love bikes to hamburger helper with my dog watching me.
Another group picture at Beaver Lake
Paul and his new Triumph Thunderbird Commander
Yeah Donny had one pound hamburger at the Oark Café. They have a 1 and 1/2 lb. triple but the manager said no one has ever ordered it. That's kind of hard to believe with all the hungry adventure and dirt bike riders passing through there.
Paul,
The dog may be looking at you the way we looked at Donny after he ate the whole double burger at Oark.... I can't believe you ate the whole thing!
We have had some rain.
Beaver Lake Dam as seen in the above photos with a bit more water. This morning all seven gates are opened 9.5 feet each. Something over 90,000 cubic feet of water per second!
A bit more water coming out then when we were there.
